Assessment Programs
Skill Australia helps you understand and prepare for
  • TSS (Temporary Skills Shortage Program): For candidates applying for the Skills in Demand (SID) visa (subclass 482) who are working in a nominated occupation and hold a passport from a TRA-nominated country.
  • OSAP (Offshore Skills Assessment Program): For OSAP-nominated country candidates applying for a skilled migration visa to work in a nominated occupation.

Assessment Pathways

Skill Australia guides you toward the most suitable option based on your qualifications and experience

Pathway 1 (Stream C) – International applicants who do not hold an Australian qualification
  • If successful, you receive both a TRA Outcome Letter and a new Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) qualification issued by William Angliss Institute.

Pathway 2 (Stream B) – For those who already hold an Australian qualification
  • TRA Outcome Letter only (no new AQF qualification issued).
PROCESS 03
The 4-Stage Journey
1. Pre-Assessment (Free) Support

Provide CV outlining your occupation, qualifications, work history and goals. You will receive a detailed note with eligibility feedback, required documents, timeline and recommended next steps. If there are gaps in your evidence, we guide you on how to address them before application.


2. Application and Documentary Evidence Assessment Support

Once you decide to proceed, submit your formal application, register with TRA and proceed to the paid assessment stages. This stage involves a detailed review of all your evidence.


3. Technical Interview

If your documentary evidence is accepted, you will proceed to the Technical Interview which is a detailed competency-based discussion with a qualified assessor from William Angliss. The interview is conducted in English.

You will explain, in your own words, how your real-world experience meets both Performance Evidence (practical skills) and Knowledge Evidence (theoretical knowledge) requirements of the relevant competencies required to operate in Australia. Interviews can be conducted online via secure video platform or face-to-face where available. At this stage offshore face to face interview are planned once in 3 months in India.


4. Outcome Support

At the end of the process, you will receive an official TRA Outcome Letter. Successful Pathway 1 applicants also receive an Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) qualification from William Angliss Institute. TRA makes the final assessment decision. We will assist you to understand your TRA result and next steps.

Professional Experience Requirements
Skill Australia helps you understand what is needed
  • With formal training: Minimum 3 years full-time equivalent.
  • Without formal training: Minimum 5 years full-time equivalent.
  • Recent work: At least 12 months in the nominated occupation within the last 3 years.

Document Support

Skill Australia advice you to gather employment letters, payslips, tax records, contracts and a strong visual portfolio showing your real workplace tasks.

Interview Preparation

Preparation is the difference between a successful assessment and a setback. Preparation resources built specifically for hospitality trade assessments, drawing on William Angliss Institute expertise.

Assessment Preparation

Our online practice tests simulate the types of questions you will face in your Technical Interview. Each test is tailored to your specific occupation and covers

  • Food safety, hygiene and Australian standards (HACCP principles)
  • Trade specific technical knowledge for your occupation
  • Kitchen management and operational procedures
  • Workplace health and safety in Australian hospitality environments

Practice tests are available in multiple choice formats and can be retaken as many times as you need. Each test is followed by a detailed answer guide explaining the correct responses.

Support sessions (where applicable)

Our structured Interview Preparation program is designed to build your confidence before the assessor interview. It includes:

  • An hour of discussions to break the ice and to prepare ahead as a sample of what is to happen on the interview day.
  • Guidance on how to structure your responses using real examples from your work history.
  • Key hospitality vocabulary and terminology used in Australian professional kitchens.
